Dr Drane runs PM module at UDIA workshop

Project managing property development projects. The essentials of urban and city development. Project management skills by Dr Jon Drane at UDIA training event.

I really enjoyed being a part of this exciting training programme. The participants were highly engaging and the day was fun as well.
Thanks to Kevin Alker for his excellent facilitation and to Sian McGrane for making the day work so well. It was great to meet the other speakers Roger Collins-Woolcock and Gregory Morgan .

The UDIA NSW (Urban Development Institute Australia) provides professional training in urban and property development to career professionals from both public and private sector interests. In doing so the sessions have an integrated sense of private and public challenges.

The day focused on ‘Project Management of Development Projects’ and I was asked to present the ‘Project Management Principles’ section of the training.

In the case examples I covered I was keen to be able to focus on a precinct centric view of development. This is rather than a more typical single site private development view. Our research programme focuses on precinct development in the 24/7 context.

Amongst the vibrant participants were a great mix of public and private sector development groups and bodies including private corporations, LGAs and university sectors.
